So you got a hug from the committee as well did you Alan?? [grins] Actually, I thought _I_ got a hug from you ... but after all, it was only as instructed by the unnamed Guest on the other thread!! It was a good afternoon, wasn't it?? (NB I have a photograph in which you can clearly be seen dancing to Hekety before your part of the afternoon!!). I saw you from a distance while Boka Halat were playing, and intended to come over and say goodbye, but you moved off too fast!!

What a wonderful event this was and very well organised.
It took place by the river on the Embankment Walk at the rear of the ITV building. We were very lucky with the weather that was fantastic and hundreds of people were interested in the events organised which ranged from Clog, Morris,Rapper and about five year olds doing a Maypole Dance and an English Ceildh featuring three bands, where I was involved.
The dancing was interesting in that few sets consisted of the same people, most were passing through, enjoyed watching the dancing and listening to the music and then joined in the dance.
If ever an event introduced Folk Music to the masses this was it,tiny tots to the elderly. Many visitors from other countries joined in and in one dance I watched Indian,West Indian,Japanese,American and many more dancing together having great fun.
This was my first time at this Festival and I would not hesitate to do it again.
Many thanks to the committee and to Surrey Singer who I got a hug from.
Al

I can't find the messages on this event so I'm starting a new one.
www.coinstreetfestival.org. But you've got to be quick - it's this afternoon 2 June 2007 13:00 to 19:00 AND it's all FREE. There are three bands: Hekety, GIG CB! and Boka Halat, plus Morris Dancing from the world famous Hammersmith Morris Men. My band is GIG CB! and we're on at 15:00 to 17:00 so if you want to know 1) what you are going to dance to 2) what you are going to miss check out the website: www.gigcb.com
