Subject: RE: Spencer Bohren Summer Tour From: PoppaGator Date: 06 Jun 07 - 01:29 PM No ~ sorry if I misled anyone. I know Spencer has fans around Lincolnshire thanks to past appearances with his friend Martin Simpson, but this year it looks like his European travels will only include a July sojourn based out of Parma, with yet-to-be-specified stops around Italy, Switzerland and France, and then a brief return to the States before what's described as a fall tour "in Germany and Ireland." I would imagine that there's still some likelihood of adding stops to that autumn trip, and England is conveniently enough located right between Germany and Ireland. Why not click the link I provided to Spencer's website and leave a message asking about booking a show or two ~ especially if you're familiar with any venue where he has appeared in the past? |

Subject: Spencer Bohren Summer Tour From: PoppaGator Date: 06 Jun 07 - 12:23 PM I just received the following email from my friends Marilyn and Spencer Bohren, detailing their upcoming travels in the American West and Europe. Good for them, getting out of New Orleans for the long hot summer to head for the Rockies and then, better yet, the Alps! I know there are a more than a few Mudcatters out there who already fans, both in the US and the UK (especially up around Lincolnshire). Those of you who are not familiar with Spencer, but who will be in one of the areas where he's about to perform, might be well advised to go give him a listen. ********************** It was a pleasure to see so many friends at the Snug Harbor in New Orleans on May 24. Since then New Orleans has slipped into summer gear, sultry and fragrant with mimosas and magnolias. It takes a true local to appreciate the thick air and the whir of cicadas. We'll miss it as we move on down the road for the Summer Tour . . . On Saturday, June 9, at the Greeley Blues Festival in Greeley, Colorado, Spencer will perform two sets: Spencer's mix of folk, blues, and story-telling is at 2 p.m., and his Down the Dirt Road Blues workshop will follow at 3:30 p.m. Check it out at http://greeleybluesfest.com The following Saturday, June 16, Spencer performs at 4:30 p.m. at the Nic Festival, held annually by the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper, Wyoming. In the last half hour of his set, Spencer will be joined by The Tremors for some tasty singing and collaboration. For information on all aspects of the Nic Festival, go to http://www.thenic.org/Events/NIC%20Fest/eventdetailsnicfestfinal.html Thursday, June 28 is a double header for Spencer with Dillon, Montana's Lunch in the Park at noon, followed by a Big Productions concert in Ronan, Montana, at 8 p.m. Spencer then flies to Parma, Italy, for the Rootsway Roots 'n' Blues Festival (http://www.rootsandblues.org/eng/home.jsp). Spencer will be featured in concert in Parma on July 6, with other performances on either side of this date in Italy, France, and Switzerland. August takes Spencer to the Fur Peace Ranch as an instructor for couple's weekend. Hosts Jorma Kaukonen and his wife Vanessa have created a setting, both rustic and classy, tucked away in the hills of Ohio near the great Ohio River, in which serious guitar students gather to learn from the masters. http://www.furpeaceranch.com/ Finally, a concert at Frank and Amy's Front Porch in Saluda, North Carolina, will finish out the summer (http://www.saludamusic.com/) before Spencer gears up for a tour in Germany and Ireland. |
