I agree. She is amazing. I've never cared for Eddie Murphy, but feel he was robbed of an Oscar. That was the first and only performance by him I liked.

I did a Forum search to see if this movie had been discussed, and was surprised to find it hadn't.

I didn't see this in the theater, but since it goes to the time I grew up, and me being a Michigan guy, I decided to watch the DVD. When one is raised in the 50's and 60's in the shadow of Motown, this music was a part of life.

Jennifer Hudson. I knew this young lady had chops, but when you watch her sing "You're Gonna Love Me", you know exactly why she won the Oscar. Tie in some excellent acting for a freshman actor, and you have a phenomenal performance. When she sang that song, and several others, you were exhausted from listening. What a dynamic young woman, and by all reports, a sterling individual.

All the actors did a wonderful job, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable movie to watch.
