Just to close the case...

Ok - now we have a goer - it was the RAM - now got Linux FC6 booted.

HP cases are a delight to work on...

Thanks

I have acquired a HP P4 1.7 Ghz bare Motherboard in its original case - original PSU and CPU - all the obvious lights light up - including some leds on the MB.

The LED next to the power switch stays lit. I can't seem to find the 'hard reset button. There is a switch that the case triggers so the lid has to be on while running. All obvious things have been wiggled to check that they are tight.

I get a two tone warble for a couple of bursts, then several beeps.

No other info at present - no idea what BIOS.

Anyone able to assist in error troubleshooting? Sites for such codes?

I could try and find a MB id code - but dunno what or where to look.

Btw, using a KVM to connect - I don't want heaps of cables everywhere.

I have a warranty, so if it is dead, I can get a swap.

Robin
