Subject: RE: Hi-resolution Mudcat Catfish Icon From: JohnInKansas Date: 18 Jun 07 - 02:24 PM A T-Shirt logo was announced by Max at: Max: 29 Aug 97: Ok, I got something to show you all. Before you jump down my throat for this, please remember that we are going to create more than one version of tshirts for you all. This is the design for the our (my team) tshirt. The fronts will look something like this: Also on the front or back or another shirt will be the digitrad logo. For now... This post appeared in the thread at: Check this out, from Max, T-shirt Design. Note that "way back then" some image posting was done, but only the text remains. (Some of the posts/threads currently found as "mudcat.org" threads apparently also came from web pages under other names.(?)) It may be speculated that this was the current design by the comment: Subject: RE: Check this out, from Max, T-shirt Design From: Joe Offer - PM Date: 30 Aug 97 - 12:56 AM No doubt, Max, there will be some who will start another round of banjo jokes once they see this logo. Are you going to make an accordion version of the logo, too? -Joe Offer, who would be proud if he could play either instrument, or any instrument at all.- Also noting: Subject: RE: Check this out, from Max, T-shirt Design From: Max - PM Date: 30 Aug 97 - 01:21 AM Maybe the back won't say anything. and the site is going to be officially at www.mudcat.org in a few weeks. It will also always stay at www.deltablues.com. They will mirror earchother. Some subsequent posts make it unclear that the "original Max design" was in fact the current logo; but it must have been very close: Subject: RE: Check this out, from Max, T-shirt Design From: Tim - PM Date: 30 Sep 97 - 01:32 PM Max, you noted early on that this wasn't supposed to be a referendum, but it was inevitable, wasn't it? Although the regulars here are very shy about proffering an opinion of any kind, it was great to see them actually taking a stand on something. I VOTE for your very first design (Mudcat jumping from Banjo). I may be wrong, but I still believe in economies of scale. One people, One T-shirt. There is also the hint in that last post that sarcasm may not be a new thing at mudcat? There were apparently some difficulties getting the original (first lot) T-Shirts produced and distributed. It finally happened: Subject: Mudcat T-Shirts Are Here! From: Max, Date: 19 Jan 98 - 02:21 PM The link to the picture that appears of course no longer works, so those newbies among us will just have to guess about it. John |

Subject: RE: Hi-resolution Mudcat Catfish Icon From: JohnInKansas Date: 18 Jun 07 - 02:17 PM There have been a couple of issues of Mudcat T-Shirts. Surely the image/art used for them would be larger (requiring more pixels) if one can be found. Discussion of a "Mudcat T-Shirt" appeared way back in T-Shirts Date: 26 Jul 97 - 02:26 PM, with comment from Max: Subject: RE: T-Shirts From: Max - PM Date: 26 Jul 97 - 02:26 PM I have an artist drawing up a few catfish doing various things. I am partial to one playing a fiddle aside the delta. We will certainly have multiple versions and let you all vote on them before we commit. Soon... Obviously this was before the catfish logo appeared, but one wonders what happened to all the other suggestions that people apparently sent in. [?????] John |

Subject: RE: Hi-resolution Mudcat Catfish Icon From: Bob Bolton Date: 18 Jun 07 - 09:03 AM G'day Joe, I have emailed a copy of the image I filched from the site - then 'depixelated' in "Real Fractals" program. It serves the purpose, for ID-card sized name tags at festivals. (I had rather hoped that there might be a hi-res originals somewhere... down around the bayou's deep muddy bottom...) Regards, Bob |

Subject: RE: Hi-resolution Mudcat Catfish Icon From: My guru always said Date: 18 Jun 07 - 08:50 AM I believe I have a selection of them (various specs) sent to me a couple of years ago for Mudgather posters. Perhaps you could let us know here if John's worked or not. |

Subject: RE: Hi-resolution Mudcat Catfish Icon From: JohnInKansas Date: 18 Jun 07 - 04:43 AM Joe - We made small "stickers" to share with 'catters who showed up at the WVA Festival in 2001 using an enlargement from the .gif that's on the web page, "hand polished" in Photoshop Elements to remove all the overenlargement fringing and smooth the colors somewhat. It's pretty crude, but might be useful if one isn't too fussy. email on the way. Sometime in the 2001 - to - now timeframe there was a thread discussing availability of a better file, with some info about where the icon came from and who had the "original;" but I don't recall that anyone came up with an "official" image file. Subject: RE: Hi-resolution Mudcat Catfish Icon From: Geoff the Duck Date: 18 Jun 07 - 03:21 AM Badger certainly constructed a scaled up logo a number of years back for us to use at the first Yorkshire Gathering. I believe that at the time he was using a RISC based computer which had file formats not readable by a Microsloth PC. At the moment I cannot recall if he did manage to convert it to something I could use on my PC. If he did, I ought to have a copy somewhere. If not, I believe his current computer setup is a standard PC, so he should have the logo he uses to make Mudcat badges. Try a PM to Badger or to Tig (Tig has been seen in the Mudcahat recently, so is about, if not posting much). If you don't get through to either of them, get in touch with me and I can try to get in touch direct. Quack! Geoff. |

Subject: Hi-resolution Mudcat Catfish Icon From: Joe Offer Date: 17 Jun 07 - 11:42 PM Hi- Somebody asked me fora high-resolution icon of the Mudcat catfish, something bigger and better than the one we have on the Support the Mudcat link on the Forum Menu (and without the "click me" wording). Seems to me somebody should have one - Badger and Tweed would be possibilities, but they're not around much nowadays. If you have one you can send me, let me know. -Joe Offer- joe@mudcat.org |
