Subject: RE: TruBrit is going home - briefly - any music Oct3/4 From: TRUBRIT Date: 01 Oct 07 - 12:12 PM Ah well - you may be right..........but I see her so rarely that I tend to let her manage the activities. And you know that in England 100 miles is not the same as 100 miles in America -- just so much harder to get there from here. |

Subject: RE: TruBrit is going home - briefly - any music Oct3/4 From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 01 Oct 07 - 11:07 AM Truebrit, dear, how many miles (I mean kilometers) are you going to be travelling to see this sister? Thousands? Hundreds? And yet you hesitate to ask your sister to drive to a place in the region to see a world-famous musician? You hesitate to ask her to experience something very important to you with the possibility that she might like it? There's such a thing as being too British, you know. |

Subject: RE: TruBrit is going home - briefly - any music Oct3/4 From: Geordie-Peorgie Date: 23 Sep 07 - 06:09 AM Hiya!! There are a couple or three folk & blues clubs aroond the Soothampton area. Best te find them aall listed in http://www.focsle.org.uk/SCoFF/members.htm Woolston & Bursledon (Sunday) is my 'local', Chichester Tues) is wunnerful as is Arundel (Wed)(but quite a journey from Ashurst) Fo'c's'le (Fri) is a canny, friendly bunch an' aall run by a lovely lady caalled Jane and her partner, Trevor, who is responsible for the above web site Forest Folk regulars tend te be a bit 'up their own orifice' but that's just a personal opinion. If ye want any mair info then PM uz an' aah'll let ye hev me e-mail for a 'chat' |

Subject: RE: TruBrit is going home - briefly - any music Oc From: jacqui.c Date: 22 Sep 07 - 09:18 AM Deb - if you can do it at all get to see Martin Wyndham-Read, even if you have to hire a car for the day. I'd give my eye teeth to be there for that one. |

Subject: RE: TruBrit is going home - briefly - any music Oct3/4 From: TRUBRIT Date: 21 Sep 07 - 11:05 PM Well - you are most kind to respond. Unfortunately without a car of my own over there i doubt I could get my sister to drive to the Guildford area for an evening -- distances are so very different there.......; I'll make a note of the Wednesday happening and see if I can check it out. ....tks. |

Subject: RE: TruBrit is going home - briefly - any music Oct3/4 From: My guru always said Date: 21 Sep 07 - 08:52 AM Of course if it's the Ashurst near Southampton my previous post won't be much help! But I've a note about a Folk & Blues evening every Wednesday at Priory Ave, St Denys, Southampton, that is old & sketchy info so you'd need to check! |

Subject: RE: TruBrit is going home - briefly - any music Oct3/4 From: My guru always said Date: 21 Sep 07 - 08:45 AM Nearest thing I've come up with for definite is the Windmill at Ewshot who have Martin Wyndham-Read as a Guest on Thursday 4th October. If you decide to go we might pop down & say hello!! Shame you won't be in Ashurst (is it the same Ashurst I'm thinking of, near Steyning?) for the second Wednesday which is a chorus night at the Fountain Inn. |

Subject: RE: TruBrit is going home - briefly From: RTim Date: 20 Sep 07 - 06:04 PM I used to work in Ashurst - Did my Shetmetalwork apprenticeship there at Grant Galloway and Gear - behind Grant's garage. We made Tar Sprayers. It has all been leveled now and has houses on, much like most of my old home village of Totton! Tim Radford (now Woods Hole MA USA) |
