We submitted a new version, with an extra thousand songs, in March. Apparently there are technical problems with getting it posted. We are working on the version after that one.

Sorry, folks, I should have chosen my words more carefully.

I don't know that a new edition is anywhere near ready - just that songs are being harvested.

When Susan sees this thread we can get an accurate reply.

The Mudcat Cafe forum (combined with the DT database) contains well over the 9000 songs - and that (the mudcat) does grow on a dialy basis. Not everything submitted or discussed on the 'cat will get into the DT; they are two seperate entities. Which is partly why you will also find on the forum threads pointing to genres, or to results of song-writing competitions, etc.

Ah,I thought that the DT just grew as new lyrics etc were added on a daily basis.

I didn't realise that someone was working hard collecting new songs and editing a new edition. Sounds great, can't wait!!

latest edition of the Digital Tradition (aka DT) has 9000+ songs. New songs are being constantly collected & will be part of a new edition when ready.

Susan of DT will know more as she is collecting them!

Just an observation.

I've been logging onto Mudcat for several years now and, if my memoery serves, the front page has always said that the Digital Tradition Database contains about 9000 songs.

Does that mean that it's not growing or just that the front page hasn't been updated?
