I do not agree.I am[regretfully through lack of time ]ignorant of the Eskimo song tradition, but I still understand the English song tradition.
I may understand a few other song traditions, but their understanding[imo]throws no light on my understanding of my own tradition

I am calm, Anahata, I am calm believe me. Not making a lot of sense but calm. Trust all is well with you and Mary. Enjoyed your music at Shrewsbury and the workshop. Playing at the Lloyds on Saturday a haunt Mary will know. Working from acorns to samplings at the moment but who Knows?

Cheers
Les

"You do not understand your own tradition if you do not see it in relation to others" by John Searle."

"Don't explain it to me 'cause I really don't give a turkey......or a shit or a fuck for that matter."

Speechless is what I am. This quality of thoughtful irony at the start of my day can only suggest a special kind of day.

Some religious groups go on about how family orientated they are as if the rest of us are not. Some English men dance with other men in the Morris and are surprised to find many cultures where men dance to celebrate things. We visit other countries are are knocked out by natural wonders only to come back and rediscover them at home.

About 200.000 years ago we lived in Africa. Some of us wondered off around the beaches of the world and did things a bit differently. But we are basically the same people and we share much - perhaps we can share it a bit more? No, not all of us.

Well Bruce, as the resident dumbass I have to say I neither agree nor disagree as I ain't got a clue what the hell that means exactly.

Hmmmm.........A favor here perhaps? Don't explain it to me 'cause I really don't give a turkey......or a shit or a fuck for that matter.

Spaw

In todays Boston Globe (Mon. 23rd Oct), The Reflection For The Day is:

"You do not understand your own tradition if you do not see it in relation to others" by John Searle.

So Guys & Gals - what do you think?

Tim Radford
