Subject: RE: Sessions in centre of Edinburgh Wed-Fri? From: Jack Campin Date: 30 Oct 07 - 07:10 PM Forgot to add - bluegrass/Americana session in The Tass on Thursday, 8.30-11.30ish. It's regularly on the first Thursday of each month. I'll probably be at it. |

Subject: RE: Sessions in centre of Edinburgh Wed-Fri? From: Jack Campin Date: 26 Oct 07 - 06:42 AM Edinburgh Folk Club has Leon Rosselson next Wednesday, so that's where I'll be. http://www.edinburghfolkclub.org.uk/giginfo.php?gigID=132 If you want to do a floor spot you'd have to ask well in advance. They've surely got them filled for next week. The Royal Oak has its "Wee Folk Club" in the basement on Sunday nights. There is a led session (with Kris Drever) on Sunday afternoon which I believe is good (I'm always at the Sandy Bells one at that time). There are usually people singing lateish at night but the ambience is something out of a James Ensor painting. |

Subject: RE: Sessions in centre of Edinburgh Wed-Fri? From: eddie1 Date: 26 Oct 07 - 05:49 AM Sadly I'm some years away from having lived in Edinburgh but The Royal Oak in Infirmary Street was good for music 7 nights a week from about 8.00. The Edinburgh Folk Club in The Pleasance happens on Wednesdays. It's not a singaround but floor singers are welcome. Enjoy your visit. Eddie |

Subject: RE: Sessions in centre of Edinburgh Wed-Fri? From: Jack Campin Date: 26 Oct 07 - 03:39 AM The Tass Wednesday and Friday, the Antiquary on Thursday, Sandy Bells all three nights. All 9pm on. The most likely place to find Gaelic speakers is at the West End Hotel but they don't have sessions any more (sometimes an accordionist, Friday I think). |

Subject: Sessions in centre of Edinburgh Wed-Fri? From: Gulliver Date: 25 Oct 07 - 11:41 PM Hope to be in Edinburgh next week and would like to know of any folk/traditional/singaround sessions. Won't have instruments but glad to listen and maybe sing a song. Speak Irish in case anyone's around who may speak Scottish Gaelic. My first trip to Scotland! Don |
