Subject: RE: Tech: Neat program on 'give away of the day' From: Jack Campin Date: 20 Dec 07 - 05:49 PM This has been built in to MacOS (use AppleScript) for at least 15 years. Are other systems that far behind? |

Subject: RE: Tech: Neat program on 'give away of the day' From: GUEST Date: 20 Dec 07 - 04:57 PM Festival seems to be a common one on Linux. I believe it can be complied in Windows. Others I have in my distribtion are mbrola and espeak. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Neat program on 'give away of the day' From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 20 Dec 07 - 04:49 PM There are quite a few of these about. Have a look for MBROLA, TexTalk, ReadPlease, SayIt, Freespeech - some of the ones on my machine and these are quite old now (6/7 years looking at the dates), I imagine there are a lot more now. Subject: RE: Tech: Neat program on 'give away of the day' From: Bill D Date: 20 Dec 07 - 04:40 PM I think I already have 2 programs that will do that trick. If anyone sees this thread after the giveaway is over, I can find you one. |

Subject: Tech: Neat program on 'give away of the day' From: SouthernCelt Date: 20 Dec 07 - 01:28 PM The web site "giveawayoftheday" has a neat little program called TextAloud that will put text from various documents into audio via a computer generated voice (3 of the them actually, you pick the one to use). The audio can be simply played or saved to a file. The program is free if downloaded and installed (activated) today. Go to giveawayoftheday and follow the instructions. SC |
