Subject: RE: Obit: Jim Gilbert - memorial on 13 Jan, Maine From: JudyB Date: 11 Jan 08 - 02:36 PM Thanks, maeve. Just did a little looking around and found he actually passed away in mid-December - link to obituary. The picture sort of looks like him - but doesn't catch the energy or the twinkle in the eye. He will indeed be missed. |

Subject: Obit: Jim Gilbert From: kendall Date: 09 Jan 08 - 06:52 AM On January 13th a memorial get together will honor our dear departed friend, Jim Gilbert of Camden Maine. Jim is well known in folk music as the founder of the Thirsty Whale Tavern, where folk music was performed on Saturday evenings. Some of my favorite memories were created there. He went on to buy another tavern, Gilbert's Publick House where the walls resounded with everything from rock to sea shanties. Martin and his man will never sound the same without Jim's "toad in the road". So long old friend, you leave a space that no one can ever fill. |
