Thanks. I forgot the exact title of the song - it's a gorgeous one though isn't it.

So, I'm betting that this is the song "lefthanded guitar" was looking for.

HEAVENLY DAY
(Patti Griffin)

Oh Heavenly day
All the clouds blew away
Got no trouble today
With anyone

The smile on your face
I live only to see
It's enough for me baby
It's enough for me
Oh heavenly day
Heavenly day
Heavenly day

Tomorrow may rain with sorrow
Here's a little time we can borrow
Forget all our troubles in these moments so few
Oh we can right now the only thing that all that we really have to do*

Is have ourselves a heavenly day
Lay here and watch the trees sway
Oh can't see no other way
No way
No way
Heavenly day heavenly day heavenly day

No one on my shoulder
Bringing me fears
Got no clouds up above me
Bringing me tears
Got nothing to tell you
I got nothing much to say
Only I'm glad to be here with you
On this heavenly heavenly heavenly heavenly heavenly day
Oh all the troubles gone away
Oh for awhile anyway
For awhile anyway
Heavenly day
Heavenly day
Heavenly day
Heavenly day
Heavenly day
Oh heavenly day

Is Patti Griffin one of the "Bitchin' Babes"?

-Joe-

*Maybe it's
Because right now, all that we really have to do
Here's an alternate transcription, from http://zachilly.net/december-23/

Heavenly Day
(Patti Griffin)

Oh heavenly day,
All the clouds blew away
Got no trouble today, with anyone

The smile on your face, I live only to see
It’s enough for me baby, It’s enough for me
Oh, heavenly day, heavenly day, heavenly day

Tomorrow may rain with sorrow
Here’s a little time we can borrow
Forget all our troubles in these moments so few
Because right now, all that we really have to do
Is have ourselves, a heavenly day
Lay here and watch the trees sway
Can’t see no other way, no way, no way
Oh, heavenly day, heavenly day, heavenly day

No one at my shoulder, bringing me fear
Got no clouds up above me, bringing me tears
Got nothing to tell you, I’ve got nothing much to say
Only I’m glad to be here with you
On this heavenly, heavenly, heavenly day

Heavenly day,
all the trouble gone away
For a while anyway, for a while anyway
Heavenly day, Heavenly day
Heavenly day

I think I'd like to ask that any discussion of Jean Ritchie's "Black Waters" take place in this other thread (click). You'll find lyrics there, verified by Jean Ritchie. The Digital Tradition has chords.

Maybe we could save this thread for Patti Griffin's "Beautiful Day." It usually works best to discuss only one song per thread unless they're related. I think maybe the recording on this page is a cover of the Patti Griffin song. Am I right?
This Page (YouTube) has Patti Griffin singing "Heavenly Day."

I'm not having luck on the web these days.

Anyone have the words (and possibly chords) to the beautiful

Blackwters as sung by Jean Ritchie?

(also if you have words and chords to "Beatiful Day", a recent hymn to beauty, I believe by Patti Griffin- please send.

Thanks again, mudcat mavens.
