BW2417, please remember that most people here are musicians, not fans. They tend to react negatively when fed an overdose of promotion.

George,
That was not me at 12:16 PM. That was me at 7:16AM.

George,
That was me. Not sheepish at all. I was unaware until after I posted that it had logged me out, before I posted. But I signed it anyway. When I post you will know it.

Thanks,

Billy

Billy, you wouldn't be GUEST 20 Feb 08 - 12:16 PM now, and pulling our collective, would you? If the answer is a sheepish "yes", then your calling GUEST,Blindman a "Blindbrain" is false, and downright offensive to everyone. Advertising is fine; spamming and pretending to be different people to "get the excitement going" are not. The Mudcat is not another collection of brainless music fans ready to be milked, and we don't take kindly to being treated like that by arseholes.

If the answer is an emphatic "no", though, then I ask the question again. And suggest you vary your IP address a little more next time.

Awesome! Amazing! Fantastic!

Wow!
I can't believe there is finally a compilation of all this Chuck Ingram material. I've searched high and low for more material by this truly unique, Dylanesque country bluesman. I heard a rumor the success generated by this re-release has fueled a comeback. It certainly wouldn't be the first time a career has been rejuvenated by an unearthing of rare treasures. Has a comeback tour been scheduled or is there any new work coming from the recording studio? Please keep me posted! Awesome!

Once again Blindbrain, this is not spam. We are just trying to promote Charles first CD release. Relax, go home, smoke a cigerette, enjoy life.

Thanks for your interest,

Billy

Hi Mudcats!
I thought that I'd give you a "heads up" on this.
We at The Blindman's have been plagued by spam postings very similar to this, promoting the same artist.
I have placed the guilty parties' posting abilities under moderation and deleted all of their threads.
I have also emailed Gene Odom asking him to try to dissuade the people concerned from attempting to pursue this line of promotion.
While we at The Blindman's will support any Blues Artist in their endeavours to promote their carrers we do not appreciate being spammed.
All that these spammers have achieved by spamming my Forum is the alienation of all my members.
Yours in The Blues,
Blindman

Hey Billy, thanks for coming clean. No problem from me (and I don't think there would be any from the moderators) about advertising Charles' stuff here. As I said, many of us do our own promotion, several help each other with computer, or recording, skills, and collaborations sprout all the time.

And anyone who is remotely connected with Lynyrd Skynyrd is OK, in my book.

George,
We are working on his myspace as we speak. I will post as soon as everything is completed.

Thanks again,

Billy

George,
I help Gene Odom, lifelong friend and bodyguard of Ronnie Van Zant. Gene has zero computer skills, so I maintain his online sales. Charles N Ingram was one of my childhood heroes, being able to play guitar and harmonica. Obviously heavily influenced by Bob Dylan. Charles has just released songs he recorded back in 77 and 78 and I am trying to help him as well. With limited funds I am just trying to assist him the best I can. He is in the process of writing new material. He had already been asked to perform live at a venue in NC. We will have that recorded and posted as soon as possible. If I get out of line on this forum with my posting, just let me know.
Thanks alot for your interest.

Billy

Just spent 30 fruitless minues searching the web, Wikipedia, youTube and mySpace, finding only references to this thread in response. Can any member who knows/knows of CNI throw some light? What is his relationship with Lynyrd Skynyrd (the link above points to a fansite of LS)?

BW, does he have anything on youTube? I had a look, but the only Charles Ingram I could find videos of, was the guy who cheated on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire in the UK 3 years ago.

Or are there any MP3s anywhere (mySpace?) for a sampling?

Not bothered, just suspicious. We sometimes do get individuals donning multiple GUEST hats to promote an item. I see nothing wrong with self-promotion, by the way, I do it myself as I can't afford agents' fees! But I accept your statement that you only post under BW2417 (any relation to WD40? - just a tease!).

Is it me, or does this thread look like the work of a single hand? The GUEST,xxx posts are so enthusiastic as to verge on the sycophantic, with exclamation marks aplenty!! (!!) !. Perhaps a check on the IP addresses would answer that, Mudelves?

Charles is from Lilesville, NC. But listening to his music you can hear a profound Greenwich Village influence.

Is Charles Ingram from Lilesville? If so, I saw him play down at Ingram's Mountain, back in the 1980's. He had a fellow setting up his equipment that said he was Ingram's first stage hand. His name was Jimmy Martin, I believe. I've just order the CD. I can't wait to hear it!

Charles N Ingram has carried his truth and his music a long ways and a long time. The distance from the "Henry Place" to live shows at the "Wildside West" can't be measured in miles alone. The Compact Disc in hand presents a cross-section of Ingram's most enjoyable obscure work, from his first 1977 session in San Francisco, to his last show included here. While at Emory University, in Atlanta, he was moved by the sound coming out of Greenwich Village, New York City. (more)

I can't wait to hear the new release of Charles N. Ingram. I remember hearing him play in Lilesville, North Carolina, back in the 70s. He is the best song writer to come from Anson County.
