We heard this very sad news from shantyman Chris Roche on Wednesday, and mailed our own e-mail group the following day. Before flying off to Senegal, to sail the Atlantic again, Chris mailed us the following-- "Dave and Doreen Wednesday the 20th February @ South London Crematorium, Streatham Vale at 1300 hours . Crem is off Rowan Road.
There will be a memorial day arranged as a musical tribute at a later date. Tony wanted to be remembered in music and song. |

Subject: RE: Tony Horncastle From: The Barden of England Date: 14 Feb 08 - 04:53 AM That's such a shame Woodsie. As you said I really enjoyed the 'jamming' last year. What a lovely guy, and what a loss. My condolences to his family John Barden |

Subject: Tony Horncastle From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 14 Feb 08 - 04:27 AM I was saddened to hear that Tony Horncastle died recently. Tony was a regular at Croydon, Orpington and Folkmob clubs with his lovely Martin guitar. He was a superb guitarist. He was also regular at Knockholt. I remember what the great John Barden said about last summer's event "The Highlight for me, was jamming with Tony" I will cherish memories of "Twenty Flight Rock" by the campfire on that saturday afternoon in June. May he rest in peace. |
