Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak, Part the Final From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 01 Mar 08 - 11:29 AM Yes the trade is good at weekends but the place is empty midweek. To quote John the landlord "Passing trade? We get lots of that. They see the pub and pass ..." Pity it's so far for us lot to frequent! |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak, Part the Final From: growler Date: 29 Feb 08 - 03:23 PM I think you've hit the nail on the head Richard |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak, Part the Final From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 Feb 08 - 02:56 AM That seems extraordinary - the place has had (the times I have been there) a good trade, and large parts of said trade are food, which is usually more profitable than beer. There must be a gouging landlord screwing him rotten on rent there somewhere. |

Subject: Folk at the Oak, Part the Final From: growler Date: 25 Feb 08 - 05:28 PM On Sunday 9th March, there will be a final folk session at The Tudely Oak, Tonbridge. Since John has had this pub, he has been a friend to Kent Folkies, not only inviting sessions in his pub, but also attending and enjoying other venues, notebly, the Greyhound Maidstone. Unfortunately, John, like many others, has found it impossible to make a living at The Oak. Please come to wish him Farewell |
