I am also working on MusicXML import and export for my program HARMONY. It can already export basic XML from imported abc, but not all of the bells and whistles are yet supported.

HARMONY also does lyrics (W:), aligned lyrics (w:) and multiple voices, as well as chords and grace notes. But of course, for Windows only.

For reasons (mostly) not connected with Mudcat, I've just been modifying John Lynch's abc2xml.xsl file to output abc lyric lines (w:). If anyone has any use for this pm me an email address and you're welcome to a copy.

I made the change because I may use it to generate abc from Sibelius scores in the Yorkshire Garland project - outputting xml from Sibelius and doing the abc conversion (at least a preliminary version) via xls (I'm using Apache's xalan xls processor at the moment).

The script is for xml 1.0 and uses xls 1.0 also (I think!). It can only handle a single voice, but will process chords and grace notes. So far I've only used it on a few test files but it looks OK. I should have a better idea by the time I've finished the 80-odd files in the preliminary YG project. I don't think the script handles annotations yet and I might look at doing that as well.

Mick
