Excellent show! Loads of good singing, good music, good beer - and butties provided by the pub.

Thanks to all who made it such a good evening.

John

Welsh? He could have been, but it's more likely that he was British*, from the Lake District or perhaps Galloway. the only certainty is that he wasn't Irish. If he thought of himself as having a nationality, he probably called his native country Cumri.

*They included the Welsh at the time anyway- and Welsh was a perjorative term in Old English, meaning Briton.... or slave (which he was, till he escaped).

Away haul away we'll haul away Joe
He built a church in Dublin and on it put a steeple
Away haul away we'll haul away Joe

Hiya Kitty - we're putting plans together for our 'festival tour' this year. I'm sure we'll meet up for a sing more than once. I trust you're well and ready for the rigours of the festival season!

Thanks to guest & Brakn (who has NO excuse not to join us!), I had no idea about the date thing, thanks.

Brakn: if you're up for tonight I'm cycling to the Sarries, if you fancy a pedal just drop me a PM or whatever. Friday sees the Mobberley 8 again. Meet at the site of the Bleeding Wolf at 11am, alternatively be at the Plough & Flail for 12...on your bicycle. If you don't want to do the pub tour you could meet us at the last pub, the Railway at Mobberley after 3pm for a mega-sing & play.

Cheers,

John

According to Wikipedia it's to do with when the 17th falls within Holy Week.

The last time it was changed was 1940 and the next time will be 2160.

Did you know that St. Patrick's day this year was actually yesterday and that St. Patrick was born in Wales?

Hi John - I just knew, from the title, before opening the thread that it would be from you....

Hope you have a great time - I'll be a bit further south tomorrow, and hope to catch up with you later in the year.

Kitty

There's to be a session of playing and singing at the Saracen's Head, Warburton, near Lymm, Cheshire on the evening of Monday 17th March.
