I met Mick almost 25years ago while singing at a festival in England, I think he is one of the best singers ever to come out of England and when Pete and Mick joined up together, WOW! Don't miss this date if possible.

The guests at the Music Institute Club in Guildford this Friday, 28/3/08 will be Mick Ryan and Pete Harris.

The combination of Mick's singing and Pete's skills on all manner of
fretboard instrument have made this duo one of the most popular on
the folk club and festival circuit.

Described in Folk Roots as "definitely the most underrated singer
in the country" Mick's reputation as an interpreter of traditional song is matched only by his undoubted prowess as a composer. His songwriting skills have been apparent and he has since co-authored a number of musical dramas for the Barbican and BBC Radio 4 plus several "folk operas" including A Tolpuddle Man, A Day's Work and The Voyage.

A fine singer in his own right Pete Harris provides instrumental accompaniment on guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, banjo, mandola, bass guitar and whistle. In addition to his work with Mick, Pete has also been a member of a number of popular folk bands including The New St. George and The Bursledon Village Band. Outside the folk scene Pete has been singer and lead guitarist with a number of Blues and R&B bands, most notably The Bob Pearce Blues Band with whom he has toured all over the U.K.

As might be expected, given their backgrounds, Mick Ryan and
Pete Harris combine traditional, original and blues material
with solo, unison and harmony singing that is by turns
powerful, sensitive and arresting.

Tickets can be booked online via the Electric Voices website which can be found here
or can be purchased on the door on the night. Music commences at 8 pm prompt.
