Damn, Willie-O. I saw him in Boulder last Summer and wouldn't describe his voice as shot. While not as resonant as the golden tone of 1970, his voice is still clear, evocative, and soothing. He finished with the Railroad Trilogy, and had the crowd standing and shouting for more. He smiled and apologized that he had given "all he had" in him and couldn't do another song. It was a great performance.

I have a rather grubby Gordon Lightfoot ticket stub on my door here, from March 26, 1970 at the NAC Balcony. $2.00. Now that was a concert to remember.

The shows in Ottawa next week, same venue, start at $61.00, and his voice is, frankly, shot. "for the memories of what we shared before, are too good to be changed, and they're all I'll carry with me..."

Love the songs and he's a damn good fellow. Enjoy.

I'm not sure how to interpret your "Good for you". I hope that was meant as a positive statement? I didn't mean to brag; just to say that I was taking advantage of the opportunity myself, and was looking forward to it.

I am not from the area; in fact, at this moment I live in Colorado! But my husband and I are planning a 10 day trip east, to see the Tom Paxton tribute in Alexandria, VA on May 3rd (hmmm ... I didn't post about that, did I?), and then see Gord on May 9th and 10th. In between we'll work from our home in New York State, so it isn't a 10 day vacation, but there will be some sweet music on both ends of the trip.

A quick note for Gordon Lightfoot fans in Ontario:

Promoter Bernie Fielder is making some choice seats available to internet Lightfoot fans. Concerts start this month and continue into May in Ottawa (April 19th and 20th), Hamilton (May 2nd), Kitchener (May 3rd) and Massey Hall in Toronto (May 7th through 10th).
