Subject: RE: Beer anyone? From: maeve Date: 20 Apr 08 - 05:28 PM This is good news, Beer. Why is it so far from Maine though? Wish I could be there to listen and enjoy! Have some fun now, you hear? Hey Peace, no fair. You've set us to thinking about that poor cat, and you're offering no elucidation on the horizon! |

Subject: RE: Beer anyone? From: Peace Date: 20 Apr 08 - 05:12 PM It's a long story, Gnu, and one that really wouldn't be of interest to most folks. When you and I sit down someday to play some music--I'll tell ya then. |

Subject: RE: Beer anyone? From: Beer Date: 19 Apr 08 - 04:46 PM Thanks Ron. No Neil McKay has his own group and is doing very well. After I stopped (last gig was at the Branches and Roots 2004.) he moved on and has just released his second c/d. Erin (Kelly) Ethridge is a young lady from fiddling country (Chapeau)and has won a few awards at Pembrooke and other areas. I must google her to see what I can find. |

Subject: RE: Beer anyone? From: Beer Date: 19 Apr 08 - 04:39 PM Truth be known I had implants in my vocal folds about 2 years ago and it is only in the past 5 to 6 months that I have been able to carry a tune to a degree. That is the reason I had been refusing gigs. Oh, I've been going to local coffee house and gatherings as such doing two to three songs (out to one this evening.)but nothing like a half hour gig. I'm not nervous (well a little.) but more concerned with my wind stamina. I'm on heavy doses of medication which is controlling my arthritis very well but one of the side effects is shortness of breath. Good title Gnu. You knew I'd have a look with a title like that. Thanks Peace, Kat, myself and thank you Bonnie. Good to hear from all of you. Adrien |

Subject: RE: Beer anyone? From: Peace Date: 19 Apr 08 - 01:53 PM "4 Strings and a Squeeze Box is the group of our good friend Adrien Doucette. We've been after him to perform at the Side Door for a couple years now, so we're thrilled that we finally talked him into it. Adrien has been entertaining folks in the Eastern Townships, the Chateauguay Valley and the Island of Montreal with his sea shanties and Maritime ballads since 1967. Joe Byrde, a Newfoundland sidekick living in Chateauguay, has been with Adrien most of this time adding to the fun with his remarkable memory for tunes on his accordion. Bob Davis on bass and Randy Merlin on mandolin (from Hemmingford) add to the sound and voice. Both are in their own bands of Country and Rock and Roll. A recent addition, Champion fiddler Erin Kelly from Chapeau, Quebec, joins the group as the fourth string thus completing the band's name. And on this special occasion, Leigh Redding from Plain Folk will be backing up the group on the bodhràn. Get ready to clap, sing and dance!" Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, Ad. Best to you, buddy. (That stuff up there is from the site Gnu linked to.) |

Subject: Beer anyone? From: gnu Date: 19 Apr 08 - 01:48 PM Beer returns to the stage with Four Strings and a Squeeze Box on May 9. Dearest Adrien... I hope I have not put any undue stress or otherwise upon you by starting this thread. If so, my sincerest apologies. Hehehehe. BREAK A LEG, buddy! |
