Subject: RE: Sengwer Aid Cottingham Live 14/05/08 From: Willa Date: 15 May 08 - 04:47 PM Oh, what a night it was! Linda, I bought a stack of your shortbread biscuits for my grandsons, but they didn't make the journey homs as I dropped them (the biscuits, I hasten to add, before the NSPCC gets involved), so I had to eat the lot myself. |

Subject: RE: Sengwer Aid Cottingham Live 14/05/08 From: Linda Kelly Date: 15 May 08 - 04:39 PM A very very successful evening indeed- can I thank everyone who took part and donated generously -we will reveal the amount raised shortly. Having read the obituary column in the local paper this evening I am assuming that those who partook of the Linda Kelly Cake and Biscuit Orgy made it through the night. As I said before, there are apparently no calories in cakes bought for charitable purposes -which given the amount some people (naming no names Pistachio) got through, is just as well! Well done to all who took part -Gill Pirt was extremely grateful and we already know from past events that thi realy makes a difference to peoples lives in Kenya. |

Subject: Sengwer Aid Cottingham Live 14/05/08 From: Linda Kelly Date: 08 May 08 - 04:56 PM Cottingham Live Folk Club continues supports the Sengwer tribe of Kenya through donation and CD sales throughout our season. Each year we hold a special evening where all proceeds from door receipts, and activities such as card sales, tombola, pottery and the dreaded Linda Kelly cake and biscuit orgy (is there no beginning to my talent?)go towards the registered charity Sengwer Aid.Last year this one night generated nearly £1000 spent on life enhancing projects amongst these minority peoples. They have been much affected by the current situation in Kenya and we consider the Sengwer our friends and want to continue to improve their lives. We are pleased to be joined by our friends, Mambo Jambo and an array of club regulars. The evening will have an international flavour and we would value the support of anyone who would like to join us.If you would like a floor spot there will be some available-international songs would be lovely!!!!!
