I will pass on your comments to Peter ,as he is not on the internet. He really enjoyed the night and was pleased to see so many old friends

What a cracking night, thanks to all concerned. Peter, as always was brilliant, and despite concerns about the Globe, the cricket club is a great venue, great acoustics and a stunning locaation, we even got to watch the end of a match before the gig started.

Horace was the organiser indeed , oh what days . I only found out this week that it was closing, we certainly had some great nights there when we sang as a family. And the times I have been recently it was always full. Thanks to Claire and Dave and also Tony who ran the Folk club

Fucking Hell , how did I miss this news ? .
I sincerely hope Claire and Dave have come out of this situation OK.
Not only have they been good for Music of all sorts - their forte being Folk , but they have also served exceptionally good beer.
As old Timer says "Over 40 years" me and Garbutt cut our teeth there Horace was the organiser.
I hadn't passed my driving test , so it must be over 43 years ago.
Shit, I wish I'd known about your "last night" being on the 13th May - I would have been over to commiserate and get some drinks down your necks.
I must confess I'm a bit angry at not knowing, but I suppose Dave and Claire are not so happy either.
Very best wishes to you both for the future.

Cheers Betsy

I can confirm that the above is true. For the time being the country club is at The Ship. The jazz are taking a fortnights holiday and will then probably be at The Black Swan. More on the Folk Club when we know.

Thanks to all our customers over the last five years. Our final night is tonight and yes it is indeed a sad day.

Gillie

Just heard that the Globe is closing!

The venue is changed to the Guisborough Cricket club for Peter Bond.

If the Globe closes for good it will be a sad day for music in Guisborough.

Country on Monday
Jazz on Wednesday
Blues on Thursday
Folk on Friday
Various on occasional Saturdays

Both the Folk & the Country nights have been held for more than 40 years (with occasional 'lapses')
Lets hope this is a 'lapse' & that the venue will re-open to music soon

I remember him from late 70s or early 80s. I used to enjoy his stuff.
Have a good night.
Quack!
Geoff.
