You might also want to look at John Chambers site.
John Chambers has an incredible collection of tunes in abc format:
JC's ABC music collection

Hi, Steve - Long ago, we had a Mudcat-specific program called MIDITEXT, programmed by Mudcatter Alan of Oz. We no longer support MIDITEXT because there are other programs that are more versatile.
I'm gradually converting our MISITEXT posts to MIDI files.

Silly me...! Half-way down the list of things that do ABC, I found Tabledit -- and I've already got it! Ah well, see this thread now.

Chris Walshaw's page has an old and long obsolete program of mine listed, but he has never updated it with the new one.

You could use my program HARMONY which runs on Windows (all 32 bit versions)

It can do both abc to MIDI and MIDI to abc, as well as many other wonderful things (Shameless promotion time)

Download from my site

Steve - go to Chris Walshaw's abcnotation site. There you'll find the abc software packages page, with links to a lot of the abc packages, including abcMIDI.

When I need to convert an abc to a midi, I go to this site

http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html

It works with windows xp for me.

A long time ago I downloaded these two very handy utilities, but now I can't find them on the 'Cat. Are they still about? Or is there anything more recent I can use for posting tunes, that will work ok with Win98 or XP (not Vista)? I've got a copuple of new songs to pass on, but I need to do the tunes.

Ta, Steve
