Subject: RE: Obit: Marianne Taylor 8/19 2008 From: Stringsinger Date: 22 Aug 08 - 06:32 PM Marianne was a fine, generous person, a really important influence in the Boston area in folk dance and folk music. She allowed me space to teach music classes and encouraged anything to do with folk music. She was a marvelous teacher and her classes were enjoyed by many who learned to love folk dance. She will be missed. A fine human being! Frank Hamilton |

Subject: RE: Obit: Marianne Taylor 8/19 2008 From: Anglo Date: 21 Aug 08 - 12:04 PM I'm so sorry to hear this. Her joyful presence was in inspiration, she was just so much _fun_ when she was leading a dance. I missed her at NEFFA this year; and sadly, will continue to do so in the future. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Marianne Taylor 8/19 2008 From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 21 Aug 08 - 08:34 AM I will always remember learning the Hebridean Weaving lilt- on two occasions- from that master teacher. She had grace, style, humor, high standards and patience- a perfect blend for a dance instructor. Go well, Marianne. Allison |

Subject: Obit: Marianne Taylor 8/19 2008 From: MaineDog Date: 20 Aug 08 - 07:09 PM Our dear friend Marianne has departed for a better land. I am inserting a short message from another dance leader who has said this better than I can : " Marianne Taylor died today, Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 3:20pm. Those words are as difficult for me to type as they are for you to read. But she is in a better place now - no doubt already forming a longways set (undoubtedly improper) with those who have gone before her: her daughter Joanna, Conny, Ted Sannella, Dick Crum, John Langstaff and others. She is free of the cancer which demolished her body, but never her spirit, and she is smiling from ear to ear as she encourages all to "take hands four from the top." She was always one to say "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here." Today she amended that slightly - she did have to go home, but as much as we all wanted her to stay, that home could no longer be here. Please keep her family in your hearts, thoughts and prayers. We will keep you informed through the website (www.facone.org) as details emerge about memorial services. In love and great sorrow, ----- " Thanks for your prayers and support MD |
