Subject: Lyr Add: LITTLE PLAY SOLDIERS (from Kingston Trio) From: oldhippie Date: 26 Aug 08 - 07:07 PM Ah, yes, one of my favorites: LITTLE PLAY SOLDIERS (as sung by the Kingston Trio) Two little soldiers their games are such fun Each with his helmet and little toy gun Pretending they're lying on the battlefield dead After they're tucked away safe in their bed Little play soldiers if only you knew What kind of battles are waiting for you Quiet don't disturb all the innocence of youth Tell them not to lie but never tell them the truth That men will die while little boys grow But little play soldiers are too busy to know Little play soldiers if only you knew What kind of battles are waiting for you Little white crosses and their rows are so long How will it end if you don't know its wrong For little play soldiers will never know why We love them then kiss them and send them to die Little play soldiers if only you knew What kind of battles are waiting for you Two little soldiers their games are such fun Each with his helmet and little toy gun Pretending they're lying on the battlefield dead After they're tucked away safe in their bed |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Little Play Soldiors From: GUEST,Tinker in Chicago Date: 26 Aug 08 - 05:32 PM It's by one Martin Cooper. You'll find 5400 hits on Google if you put the phrase in the search field, and many of them have the lyrics. BTW the Kingston Trio also recorded it. |

Subject: Lyr Req: Little Play Soldiors From: GUEST,murrbob Date: 26 Aug 08 - 04:22 PM I recently heard The Brothers Four sing a song that begins: "Little play soldiors asleep in their beds." A powerful little anti-war song, and I was wondering if anyone knew the lyrics and the origin. I think the album was done around 1965. Many thanks! |
