....and another video. Blind Summat live from Kirkby Fleetham Folk Club last Saturday (20/09/08). Richard Thompson's Vincent Black Lightning (1952). It's a bit of a shuffly rocky folky thing really. Worth it to see Wendy wrestling with an accordion rather than her usual guitar. Rebecca Findlay does a great job on fiddle AND vocals....not easy that!

Vincent Black Lightning

.....and while we're talking about Becks.....she's finally got some of her own songs up on MySpace and beautiful they are.

Thanks Peace!

Tim....erm, Mean Fiddler? I was clearly back in the late 80's watching the The Men They Couldn't Hang (or similar) at a certain NW London venue....clearly meant a mean fiddle!

Thanks Leeneia..... the congas (or bongos as a certain unnamed Young'un called them at last night's gig in Hartlepool) do add a certain something.

I like the use of the conga in 'Cruel Mother.' It's haunting.

OK. I tried to post a comment on Youtube but it won't allow me to.

So, I'll say it here: y'all are wonderful. You have a new fan in Hinton, Alberta.

In the vernacular, YOU ROCK!

Thanks Noreen, sorry about the sound balance....it was just recorded on a video camera so not opportunity to mix it properly. Glad you liked "Sleep Well" .

Tim, the 4th member (Becks) is probably the most talented, not only does she play a mean fiddler as evidenced on these videos she also sings beautifully (we'll get her recorded soon), plays guitar, whistle, saxaphone and just about anything else you can throw at her.

You'll love a couple of the things we're working on.........triple banjo on at least one new song!.....oh and half a dozen with no banjo at all.

Cheers

Paul

Have heard 3/4 of Blind Summat so if the 4th is anything like they have a goood (if Banjoey) sound.
Also the half we met are lovely people.

I like "Sleep Well 'til Morning"- very well done.

The sound balance with the instruments was not so good, so hard to tell what your other pieces really sound like.

I'll look out for you!

Opened our You Tube page this morning after uploading some new videos over the last couple of days and found a little rosette on our page....apparently we are the 77th most viewed UK musicians page today.

We might be easily pleased but we're thrilled.... we've never been in any kind of chart before!

Have a look at the very eclectic Blind Summat! ....if you would like to of course (we'd be very happy if you did!) and see if we're worth it?

Blind Summat! are: Wendy Arrowsmith, Joolz Cavell, Rebekah Fidlay and Paul Arrowsmith.

Mixture of folky stuff (The Cruel Mother, Sleep Well 'til morning), a little country/bluegrassy thing (The Boy Who Touched The Sea), light bluesy stuff (Work Tomorrow Blues) and Old Timey (Tunes). All are either trad. arr. or written by members of the band.

Sorry about the blatant self promotion......but if we don't, who will?

Paul
