My friends and I always thought that "I'm the Indian of the group" was some kind of immensely funny, ironic in-joke. (It must be admitted that we were not always in an unaltered state at these times.)

Imagine my surprise upon reading JCB's obit to find that he really WAS an Indian!

Damn. How old was he - 70? Doesn't seem that old. He should have had a much longer retirement, not to mention much more secure. (Zappa - great musician, lousy employer.)

I met him in York some years ago when he was playing with the Mick Pini Blues band. Knowing he was playing I took my (mono) copy of We're Only In It For the Money album with me and he signed it and had a chat. Instantly recognisable and drummed remarkably well that evening.

I like the bit on freakout where jimmy rants on in a strange language, sort of mexican from outer space stuff. He also got together at one with that other spaced out acid casualty Arthur Brown!
