Well, that was then, this is now! To see the old year out, we'll be having the 'Farewell 2008' Big Barrow session, in the same venue, tomorrow, 30th December. Same invitation applies to all, if it is half as good as last week's one, then it will be fantastic. With a bit of luck, we might all get into one room, too! Whatever happens, all the folking folksters at Barrow wish friends old and new the compliments of the season, may 2009 bring us peace, and the company of the ones we love.

Of course my Flower, I forgot the Sheffield and Scunthorpe scions of the Six Bells family... must be coming up Christmas if I use a word like scions....also, I know that Guinness is spelt like that. Anyway, very nice to see you there, you always have a seat at our sessions.

Hear!Hear! to Mr Flogs and Madame! Two rooms full of tune and song! Folk folk from Louth, Horncastle and Lincoln to Hull and beyond, making the night a truly memorable one. Nice to see the Humber Bridge police granting visas for the north bankers. Thanks to all from the regular Six Bells crowd, and compliments of the seasons from me.
And anyone who wants another helping next week, we will be having our usual session at the same time on Tuesday 30th December - the last in 2008! Should be another good one, and of course, the welcome will be warm and the Guinnes will be cold.
Of such are our dreams and memories made...

What a great session!!! or should I say two.

Loads turned up to make this one of the best mixed sessions I have been priviliged to attend in many a long year. O and the Guinness was good as well.

That was indeed a dreadful pun - or perhaps a malapropism - worthy of any of mine! Lots of good vibes, so if you're within 50 miles (80 Km for the modern ones)of Barrow on the 23rd or 30th Dec make it a date!

Well, we haven't advertised it this way for a while, but it looks like 23rd December will be the evening for one of the (fairly) legendary sessions at the Six Bells in Barrow upon Humber, North Lincs. A number of groups are looking like coming, plenty from the North Bank, and of course all friends, old & new, will be made welcome. Anyone who has been to Barrow knows the welcome is friendly and inclusive, it's not at all clique-y, the only rule is respect for fellow musicians & singers. It is NOT a singaround, it's a session, expect others to join in with you. And these advertised sessions are always such a happy and musically exciting time. Any age, any genre, any (acoustic)instrument. Beer is good, and it's about 5 minutes from the south end of the Humber Bridge. And as a bonus, the one on the 30th December will be pretty darned good, too, so if you can't make one, come to the other.
