Subject: RE: Lyrics: Smugglers From: Frank Schwach Date: 24 Jun 99 - 09:44 AM Thanks Woflgang and all you others. This was the first time I ever used such a discussion forum and I'm amazed about all this helpful people, who must spend hours answering all those questions - it's great!! Frank |
Subject: RE: Lyrics: Smugglers From: Wolfgang Date: 23 Jun 99 - 12:13 PM Frank, make a Forum Search, enter 'smugglers' (without the '') under subject and you'll find an old thread with a four verses version. you might as well take this shortcut Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: Lyrics: Smugglers From: Frank Schwach Date: 23 Jun 99 - 11:54 AM Thank you Susanne for your help. The recording of the song which I heard (sung by a german, trying to sing scottish and therefor hard to understand) consists of 4 verses, you do not happen to know a version with 4 verses, do you? Subject: RE: Lyrics: Smugglers From: Susanne (skw) Date: 22 Jun 99 - 06:23 PM They've worked perfectly well for me so far. Yes, George, I did use mistakenly. I usually prepare postings in Word and use a shortcut there, and I just forgot. Thanks for pointing it out, and many thanks to Joe for doing my work for me! :-) - Susanne |
Subject: RE: Lyrics: Smugglers From: Joe Offer Date: 21 Jun 99 - 10:03 PM ....but on Mudcat, it's much better to use double line breaks

between stanzas rather than the
paragraph mark. Paragraph marks don't always copy as double-spaces when copied and pasted into word processors. Many of us like to save the lyrics Mudcatteers post. Do us a favor and don't use
paragraph tags when posting lyrics. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Lyrics: Smugglers From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 21 Jun 99 - 08:19 PM Suzanne, is for BOLD. For Line Break, you use
, and if you want a blank line/paragraph break, use
|
Subject: RE: Lyrics: Smugglers From: Susanne (skw) Date: 21 Jun 99 - 06:58 PM Why is it that ever since last weekend, whenever I add line breaks, they come out as bold and un-line-breaked? Sorry about that! I'll try again soon. - Susanne |
Subject: Lyr Add: SMUGGLERS From: Susanne (skw) Date: 21 Jun 99 - 06:56 PM As it doesn't seem to be in the DT (quick check), here are the words: Chorus: Smugglers drink of the Frenchman's wine And the darkest night is the smuggler's time Away we run from the exciseman It's the smuggler's life for me It's the smuggler's life for me
The boat rides off frae Ailsa Craig in the waning o' the light
And when at last the dawn comes up and the cargo's safely stored
Oh lads ye hae a cosy bed, and cattle ye hae ten Ian McCalman found this in an old book - could have been called 'Scottish Minstrelsy', I'll have to ask him again - and added the chorus and tune. Enjoy! - Susanne Line Breaks^^ |
