Subject: RE: Review: Judith Owen From: PoppaGator Date: 17 Apr 09 - 03:32 PM I've seen Judith several times here in New Orleans, where she and her husband Harry Shearer maintain a part-time residence. I was bowled over the first time I caught her act, at the WWOZ Piano Night during Jazz Fest week a few years ago. Not only was her singing amazing, her piano-playing was almost as impressive, even on a night when a couple of dozen keyboard virtuosos were holding forth on two stages. (Hubby Harry, if the name is not familiar to you, was the bass player in both Spinal Tap and also one of those folk trios in Mighty Wind, does several regular voice-roles in The Simpsons, and hosts at least one regular radio program. Very funny and talented fellow, and a prominent contributor to our city's recovery from the levee failures that occurred during and immediately after Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005.) |
