And they frightened the hell out of the bunyip. Hopefully they'll sound better with the reeds in the right place.

Cheers,
Alan

wish I could say it was going well dave but just add the noise of duck being strangled with occasional glimpses of a tune to your description ... and you'll be nearly there.

just got back from the mountains where my pipe maker friend is going to fix up wolfgang's ones.... basically they are in very good nick, and the chanter is great.. but the bag needs some leaks fixed. But I am extremely happy with them.

Martin a few months back Colin the Whistler put in a thread asking if anyone knew wherer he could get a set of pipes... so I joined in and said I was looing for a half set. wolfgang had a set lying around the house that he wasn't using.. and voila.... I now have a wonderful half set.......... Isn't mudcat great???? so I am now working on some lyrics for Wolfgang.... clear as mud eh?

Alison, How's it going with your new pipes? I received a new set of bellows blown Scottish smallpipes on 3 July and find them a challenge. Imagine a gibbon in a swimming pool attempting to drown a greased football under each armpit whilst wrestling an enraged gartersnake. That's me trying to pump the bellows, pressurize the bag enough to sound the reeds, and play the chanter...without scowling or sweating. The cats head for the hills and PJ gets paralytic with laughter but I'm getting better. When everything comes together they sound really sweet and I hope someday to be as good a player as they are pipes. You can see them on Ray Sloan's website. I'm sure you're playing yours effortlessly, I'd love to hear. Cheers, Dave

it should be easy for you to play them better than I ever did. It gives me joy to think they are played again.

Wolfgang
