Subject: RE: Breezy in Birighton (Cellarfolk) From: Herga Kitty Date: 13 May 09 - 04:06 PM That Tony Geen song would have been one entered in the Maidenhead folk club song competition some years ago....? (Though Tony has been a regular entrant.) Deckchairs seems rather topical right now! Congratulations on discovering that Breezy is always an entertaining performer. Kitty |
Subject: RE: Breezy in Birighton (Cellarfolk) From: Leadfingers Date: 13 May 09 - 03:33 PM Despite all his eff0rts , Mr Breeze still remains a fairly well kept secret on the Folk Club Scene ! Fine player and he has an excellent stock of songs ! Which of Tony's did he do ? At a guess , the Deckchairs ! |
Subject: Breezy in Birighton (Cellarfolk) From: Ian Fyvie Date: 13 May 09 - 02:45 PM Mucatters will know Breezy (John Breeze) from his thoughtful comments in Forum debates. Purely through Mudcat exchanges we booked Breezy for a guest spot at last night's Brighton Cellarfolk. John was the only person we've ever booked who was not someone we knew, or performers that have visited Cellarfolk as ordinary singers first. We weren't disappointed - John was excellent! It's probably wrong to do a Folk Mag type review here but I thoroughly recommend John to club organisers who've not seen him yet One thing I would mention was personal surprise of the evening. John performed a song (competition winner) that was written by Tony Geen. I've never heard a song from Tony performed by anyone but himself and partner Janet (back in the 1970s!!) so I'm very pleased Tony is getting wider recognition alongside John, in the Breezy repetiore.! Ian Fyvie Next Cellarfolk guest by the way.... Chris Wolferstan - tues June 16th |
