Scarily enough, saw this on cable YESTERDAY!

The ending was actually a combination of the Venerable Mr. Seed's statement. Mommy shoots herself after ODing the little darling, daddy comes home in time to save the child. Later, child goes down to the lake and is electrocuted. Then, they request that you don't share the "shocking" ending...

I got my name from the creepy little girl, all right--but I didn't know the name of the tune (the book was better, by the way: not a surprise, of course--it's true 99 and 44/100s of the time. The movie had a dumb deus ex machina ending: the father comes home to find the mother who has just taken an OD of sleeping pills, in time to save her life, while the little girl is on the dock at the lake trying to recover the penmanship medal which had motivated the first murder (of her classmate who had won it) and she is struck by lightning. In the book, the mother dies, the girl doesn't, and greets her father with their old game, "What'll you give me if I give you a barrel of kisses?" He has been on a trip for a few days and has no idea what his wife had learned. So SHE'S STILL OUT THERE...) --seed

I may be wrong, but I think that the tune is a piano excersize tune called "The Spinning Wheel" A delightfully creepy arrangement for a wonderfully creepy film.

Can't help with the tune; but for any who haven't seen this classic, Patty McCormick does a wonderful portrayal of an evil child. Unforgettable! My favorite movie of its kind.

Did it seem to you to be a folk melody?

I remember seeing the "The Bad Seed" many years ago, but can't remember the music. Check with our own Charles Kratz.

This is driving me crazy. In the 1956 movie "The Bad Seed", starring Patty McCormick, there is this tune she plays over and over again throughout the movie, and I've wondered for years what the name of it is. If you saw the movie once, you would probably never forget the tune. Does anyone know the name? Thanks!
