Subject: RE: Seafest Scarborough: 23rd-25th July 2010 From: The Sandman Date: 30 Jul 10 - 08:06 AM I hope so too, I have just written a couple of new songs, but no knicker throwing shanties. It appears that PRS have not been passing on to IMRO my royalties for self penned songs. It appears I have to notify IMRO to collect royalties from PRS, which is rather difficult to do, if I dont know if someone else is performing them. |

Subject: RE: Seafest Scarborough: 23rd-25th July 2010 From: The Sandman Date: 29 Jul 10 - 03:27 PM hi, Steve, no the problem was that the e string had slipped right down to b[probably got bumped in car journey]and so was a little disturbed and needed a fair bit of retuning[ slipped back a couple of times]. once tuned up it played fine, and the lend of it was very much appreciated, thankyou ,also for restringing it, much appreciated. |

Subject: RE: Seafest Scarborough: 23rd-25th July 2010 From: GUEST,Steve Dawes Date: 29 Jul 10 - 02:26 PM Agreed. Very good weekend with some really enjoyable venues. Think the marquee was a positive step forward in audience comfort and wet-weather insurance terms even if it restricted the numbers slightly compared with the large stage that's been used in years past. One thing puzzles me. I'd be very interested to know what was "pesky" about the guitar Dick borrowed from Helen. It's not the first time and I'm not aware of any problems previously. Perhaps it was that I had restrung it for her during the week prior to the festival so that it would be nice & bright? Saw a couple of Dick's spots and his guitar work sounded fine to me! |

Subject: RE: Seafest Scarborough: 23rd-25th July 2010 From: The Sandman Date: 29 Jul 10 - 12:28 PM I can confirm that the quality of the Knickers thrown at me in the anchorage club, left something to be desired, Iwill be sending them on to Tom Jones. |

Subject: RE: Seafest Scarborough: 23rd-25th July 2010 From: GUEST,There Be Pirates! Date: 29 Jul 10 - 12:22 PM Aye, once again, a great weekend in Scarborough. Unfortunately, we were only able to be at Sea Fest for Friday and Saturday, as we had another performance out at the Ryedale Folk Museum on Sunday. But it was grand to see everyone once again, if only briefly. Dick Miles did a nice set (despite that pesky borrowed guitar), Friday night at the Merchant, and Penny was doing a very good one as well, when suddenly a man in the audience collapsed. Penny stopped mid-song and medical assistance was summoned. He was OK, and was in the front row for arrgghhhhh set Saturday night out on the pier. Penny won the songwriting competition, and though I don't know who was competiting, the song she entered was very good. Winning kind of made up for enduring medical emergencies in her set the night before. Thanks to Richard & Jeanette Grainger for putting on a great festival amidst a year of budget cuts everywhere, and thanks to the sponsors and supporters for making sure Sea Fest's 11th year continued a great tradition. Also, thanks to everyone in Scarborough who came out and supported the festival. We had a great time our second year at Sea Fest, and will be planning arrgghhhh next summer's UK tour starting in September. cheers, Shanghai Brown & the crew o' There Be Pirates! |
