Subject: RE: Lyr Req: My Bony Mary From: Kara Date: 20 Sep 99 - 02:35 PM No this is no help as it does not have the chorus and the tune is nothing like the tune that I know. But thanks for directing me to that anyway. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: My Bony Mary From: Joe Offer Date: 20 Sep 99 - 03:51 AM Hi, Kara - I gather that the version we have in the database (click here) isn't what you're looking for because it doesn't have a chorus - but you might want to put bony mary in the search box on this page and see what you get. since there may be other spellings of "bony," you may want to use an asterisk as a "wild card" and search for bon* mary - that will give you all songs that contain the word mary AND a word beginning with "bon." Good luck. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: My Bony Mary From: Kara Date: 20 Sep 99 - 01:58 AM Hello. Still looking for the middle bit of this song, also known as THE SILVER TASSIE. Written in part by Burns, but he borrowed the first bit and someone else wrote the chorus. 1. Go fetch to me a pint o wine, And fill it in a silver tassie; That I may drink, before I go, A service to my bonie lassie: The boat rocks at the pier o' Leith, Fu' loud the wind blaws frae the Ferry, The ship rides by the Berwick-law, And I maun leave my bony Mary. 2. The trumpets sound, the banners fly, The glittering spears are ranked ready, The shouts o' war are heard afar, The battle closes deep and bloody; It's not the roar o' sea or shore, Wad make me langer wish to tarry! Nor shouts o' war that's heard afar- It's leaving thee, my bony Mary! CHORUS: Mary will you come on down to shore And bid farewell to your honey ???????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????? I'd spend the rest of time with you forget this sorry nation
