Subject: RE: Tune Req: murder song From: MaryLee Date: 24 Sep 99 - 01:37 AM Alright! Yes, those are the words! Don't know why that song has remained in the flotsam of memory, but it has. When I first heard it sung, about 2am, in a tent hospital in Pleiku, it seemed one of the spookiest songs I had ever heard. Don't think I ever heard the recording. Thanks to you both for the information. Love & Mewsic, MaryLee /\/>(^..^)< "If cats could talk, they wouldn't." ~ Nan Porter |

Graham) Subject: MILLER'S CAVE MILLER'S CAVE Recorded by Hank Snow Written by Harlan Howard [C] Way down in the [G] state of [C] Georgia Thru the [G] swamps and ever-[C] glades There's a [F] hole in Tiger [C] Mountain God help the man who gets [G] lost in Miller's [C] Cave. I had a girl (had a girl) in Waycross, Georgia (Waycross, Georgia) but she had unfaithful ways Made me feel (made me feel) I was unwanted (so unwanted) Like the bats and the bears in Miller's Cave. CHANGE TO C# I couldn't stand the way she did me Couldn't take her low down ways Before I'd stay with a cheatin' woman I'll go live the bears in Miller's Cave. I caught her out (caught her out) one Sunday morning (Sunday morning) With a man they call Big Dave Meanest man (meanest man) in Waycross, Georgia (Waycross, Georgia) I'd rather fight a Mountain Lion in Miller's Cave. CHANGE TO D I said you'll pay, both you and Davey I must see you in your grave They laughed at me and then I shot 'em I took their cheatin', schemin' bones to Miller's Cave. That woman made (woman made) me feel unwanted (so unwanted) But I showed 'em I was brave Most wanted man in the state of Georgia But they'll never find me 'cause I'm lost in Miller's Cave. STRUM: [G]Dark cold, [D]cave, [A]Miller's [D]Cave. Hey, I've been near Waycross, Georgia. Up at the north end of the Okefenokee Swamp. That area is where I first tasted boiled peanuts. Sure is different from California. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: murder song From: MaryLee Date: 23 Sep 99 - 11:55 PM Thanks, George. The name sounds right. But I cannot open the file. I'm 'pewter literate, but not too "techy". The format is 'card file' and I haven't a clue what to do with it. |

Subject: murder song From: MaryLee Date: 21 Sep 99 - 12:26 AM A tune I heard in the late '60's, it concerns a murder, an escape and hiding in a cave on someone's mountain. Not Wolverton's Mountain. (I don't know who, if anyone, recorded it. I heard it sung at Pleiku very late at night while on duty at the hospital.) |
