Subject: BBC Radio 2: It's Got Bells On - morris dancing From: Desert Dancer Date: 13 Dec 11 - 07:49 PM It's Got Bells On, about morris dancing on BBC Radio 2. A nice overview of history and the diversity of the current English scene by Stewart Lee. (He's a comedian, apparently, but the show is straight, and enthusiastic.) Originally aired Monday, Dec. 12, 2011. Available to hear online for 6 more days. There's news at the very beginning, but the program starts a just a few minutes in. ~ Becky in Tucson |
Subject: RE: It's Got Bells On From: Manitas_at_home Date: 13 Dec 11 - 11:57 AM Yes, I think Morris On was part of the revival and not so much one of the causes. |
Subject: RE: It's Got Bells On From: RTim Date: 13 Dec 11 - 11:26 AM I am in the Eastern US and listened via the BBC site - and you can for 6 days. Enjoyed it, with some reservations, particularly regarding The Adderbury Revival. I was there - and not motivated by Morris On! Good recording, but it did not make me start dancing (I was already a dancer) nor made me help with the revival. Tim Radford AMM Squire & Foreman 1974 to 1996. |

Subject: RE: It's Got Bells On From: Gurney Date: 12 Dec 11 - 06:51 PM 'Dance that's as sexy as salsa.' I'd have to be a serious gourmet to find sauce 'sexy.' ;-) Or a serious dancer to find Morris sexy. |

Subject: RE: It's Got Bells On From: Manitas_at_home Date: 12 Dec 11 - 06:07 PM well, we were on about 48 minutes in. Pete Kemp demonstrating a rapper step, Alan Green talking about the history and then narrating the dance while I played. |
