Subject: RE: New Zealand's Topp Twins (Sisters) From: Tangledwood Date: 31 Mar 12 - 04:58 PM The Topp Twins performed at Woodford several years ago. They were hilarious, I loved their shows. It's too long ago now for me to remember any specifics about the act. What I've seen of their TV work doesn't do them justice. |

Subject: RE: New Zealand's Topp Twins (Sisters) From: Barb'ry Date: 31 Mar 12 - 05:46 AM I went to quite a few of their shows when we lived in NZ but that was over 15 years ago and, I suppose, their early days. Some of what they did was really funny - seem to remember a camping sketch that creased me up. Also admired their political stance and support of GLBT rights. Glad they're still doing well. Barb |

Subject: RE: New Zealand's Topp Twins (Sisters) From: Little Robyn Date: 31 Mar 12 - 04:10 AM We have enjoyed their comedy routines but don't like their songs much. Jools is a cancer survivor. Linda is the other twin, the bossy one. I believe they put on a good live show if you like that sort of thing but we've never been. In their youth they were more political - gay activists, I believe we called them. Here they are doing their Hillbilly turn. Here they are, much younger, doing an anti-nuclear song. They yodel as well. Jools is is usually on guitar. Robyn |

Subject: RE: New Zealand's Topp Twins (Sisters) From: Gurney Date: 31 Mar 12 - 01:52 AM Never been to one of their live shows, but they are on TV here in NZ quite often. 'Untouchable Girls' was on TV quite recently. Not my cup-of-tea, but I did very much like their earlier stuff when they did music, rather than the sketch comedy they mostly do nowadays. On TV anyway. |

Subject: New Zealand's Topp Twins (Sisters) From: katlaughing Date: 31 Mar 12 - 12:34 AM We just watched a 2009 docu on the Topp Twins with footage from their younger years of busking, their political activism, growing up years and a bunch more and were delighted by what we saw and heard. It was called The Tropp Twins - Untouchable Girls and we saw it on Netflix. Rog said it looks as though the whole thing is available, in segments, on youtube, also. So, how many Mudcatters have been to one of their live shows? It looked as though the really neat thing about them is their appeal to so many different kinds of audiences using humour and music to do so. Hats off to two incredible wimmin!! Great songs, too and Jools can really make a mouthharp wail! kat |
