Subject: RE: Tune Req: music on the TV for jubilee celebration From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 11 Jun 12 - 01:20 PM Live music at the actual jubilee is irrelevant. This was a charming, recorded piece which they played on the telly whenever they ran out of breath (silence being anathema). It could be heard again and again. Someone just might have recognized it or seen a credit. YouTube: have you seen the number of YouTubes about the jubilee? I couldn't possibly listen to them all. This piece could finally replace Mouret's Rondeau as the one baroque piece the general public can recognize. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: music on the TV for jubilee celebration From: SteveMansfield Date: 11 Jun 12 - 09:58 AM Well there was a whole load of music played on the river pageant - nine different bands / orchestras on various boats, multiplied by about 4 hours of music, equals one whole bunch of music (in approximate measurements). If you can find a YouTube / iPlayer of the relevant bit of coverage of the Jubilee so we can hear the theme for ourselves, you'll probably get someone identify it pretty quickly. As it is I'm sure I'm not the only one who is genuinely willing to help, but you've not given us a great deal to go on ... |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: music on the TV for jubilee celebration From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 11 Jun 12 - 09:40 AM That answer presents difficulties. I see that there is a YouTube video of Water Music Suite 1, and it's 26 minutes long. And that's just Suite 1. Trouble is, by the time I listened to all the Water Music, my memory of the theme for the jubilee will have been extinguished by all the new themes from Handel. I'm pretty sure the Water Music is more complex than the music I heard while waiting for my flight. Aren't there columnists, critics, spies or sycophants who keep track of everything the BBC does? I hope some body who knows Somebody can find out about that piece of music. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: music on the TV for jubilee celebration From: Anne Neilson Date: 11 Jun 12 - 03:34 AM I think it might have been Handel's Water Music -- pretty sure that was on the programme. |

Subject: Tune Req: music on the TV for jubilee celebration From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 10 Jun 12 - 11:20 PM On Sunday, June 3, I was at the airport, and the TV was carrying coverage of Queen Elizabeth's jubilee celebration. It was probably the BBC. From time to time I heard snippets of a very enjoyable tune which sounded Baroque. Of course, it could have been a modern piece in the Baroque style. I think amateur orchestras would enjoy playing it. Does anybody know what that music was and how to get hold of the sticks & dots? |
