Well, according to one of the pages my AltaVista search turned up, the "author" (I suspect of the tune; he was a composer) was one Etienne Nicolas Méhul, from Givet.

(later)

Found it!

I am looking too. Is there anything more you can add? Was there a chorus? Any storyline.

Like it says in the title.

I hope someone here can help - I've been looking for the lyrics that go with the Revolutionary March (deduct a point if you have to wonder which revolution). Actually, does anyone know if the tune dates back before la révolution?
