It would be great IMO if people would abandon the horrible 3 part junk, standing up and passing wind version, and play the original version

wouldn't you think the tune would be a source of civic pride, and there should be a cabinet in the town hall devoted to its history?

that would be more appropriate at sean o riadas grave, to stop him resting in peace, an object lesson in how to ruin a good tune and turn it into a bit of junk, just like what they have done to the wild rover

the common 3 part version was composed by Seán Ó Riada, or perhaps was two different tunes amalgamated, can anyone confirm that this tune was in fact a bastardisation by this "composer".
Musicians from Sliabh Luchra seem reluctant to play this COMPOSITION, but prefer the more subtle 2 part version.
