I am reminded of You'll get pie in the sky when you die, that's the lie, the chorus of a song about freethinking

I'm a HUGE fan of denial.

Calvin Trillin is a producer of amazing doggerel. Here's one from The Nation Magazine:

Trump's Wiretapping Accusation
By Calvin Trillin

Though almost no one else has shrunk
From saying that it's total bunk,
This man-child who must show he's strong
Cannot admit that he was wrong.

No matter if his facts are checked
And proven to be incorrect,
He still will tweet them all night long.
He can't admit that he was wrong.

The British say, "It's nonsense, mate."
His backers hyperventilate.
The man-child sings his same old song.
He can't admit that he was wrong.

The Ross Perot Guide To Answering Embarrassing Questions
(lyrics by Calvin Trillin, music adapted by Pete Seeger)

When something in my history is found
Which contradicts the views that I propound
Or shows that I perhaps am not the guy I claim to be
Here's what I usually do

I lie
I simply boldly falsify
I look the other feller in the eye
And just deny, deny, deny
I lie

I don't apologize. Not me. Instead
I say I never said the things I said
Nor did the things some people saw me do
When confronted by some things they know are true

I lie
I simply boldly falsify
I look the other feller in the eye
And just deny, deny, deny
I lie

I hate those weasel words some slickies use
To blur their past or muddy up their views
Not me. I'm blunt. One thing that makes me great
Is that I'll never dodge nor obfuscate

I lie
I simply boldly falsify
I look the other feller in the eye
And just deny, deny, deny
I lie

appears on the Pete Seeger & Arlo Guthrie album, More Together Again in Concert (1994).

Calvin Trillin, by the way, is a very interesting personality.

I heard Pete Seeger in concert do a great song about politicians. The chorus was "They lie, they lie, they look you straight in the eye." (Maybe it was "right in the eye") I can't find it on YouTube, on google, and even my public library did research and could not find it. I'd like the melody and lyrics, or a source if anyone has that?
