Turns out the kingdom was founded by Crusaders in 1204, and fell to Epirus in 1224. 20 years, and it was gone. -Joe- |

Subject: Music of Latin Thessalonica From: Jack Campin Date: 25 Sep 17 - 07:45 PM This was new to me - I didn't even know that this regime/state ever existed - and will probably be news to other medieval music wonks here. https://store.fairead.net/nefeli/kountouras-troubadours Raimbaut de Vaqueiras wrote what might be the most-recorded song of the entire Middle Ages but I had no idea he was ever in that part of the world. It's an interesting statement for Greek musicians to take this on. Rather like an Iraqi Arabic band doing a CD of American music from the Baghdad Green Zone. (I haven't heard or read it yet). |
