Subject: BS: Acme to Stilly (again!)
From: Stilly River Sage

Several years ago one of our more enterprising trolls, (whose posts I'd apparently deleted), figured out which state university library I worked at and fabricated a story about how I was making hate-speech type remarks toward that august institution via mudcat. He found a form on our reference questions page and sent a billet-doux of the most noxious kind through to our reference desk.

Our library (from which I am happily retired!) has struggled under our most recent top administrator and she and her staff took up the troll's clues as to how to track down all of my old posts. They apparently read through six months of them, and finding nothing, banned me from using mudcat at work. Of course I found a way around that, but also, after filing a police report, I changed my account name. The troll couldn't have that, he wrote again, hand-wringing about my misdeeds and suggesting that he might have to go to the local media. Police immediately saw what was up with his followup message.

I left "Acme" in place (it's the brand of dynamite and other explosive charges favored by Wile E. Coyote) until I left the university.

Stilly is Stillaguamish.

Most of the time I enjoyed that job, but when it became a strain on my health I took my all-health-benefits-paid retirement and am moving on. I'm not old enough to collect Social Security so I'll find something else. About which I will no longer give overt clues in the pages of mudcat, in case the ol' Texas Troll hasn't become roadkill on a lonesome state highway, just another skunk on the road.
