On his Radio 2 show Thanks For the Memory Hubert Gregg occasionally played a song entitled Country Boy (I presume, as that phrase featured regularly in the lyric) which had no relation to the "silver in the stars and gold in the morning sun" quite the opposite, in fact, as this song was about a country boy who, having visited the city, was no longer content with his lot.

But as you can imagine it's very hard to search for online because of the title. Does anyone know who recorded it? To my ears the singer sounded not unlike Hoagy Carmichael but wasn't.

It ended more or less:

What's that you're saying, country boy?
You think that it's a pity
You're not back in the city?
Shame on you, country boy!

And as far as I recall it was just a piano backing.
