First album they released it on was in 1980, titled Easter Brothers

From the US copyright office, it looks like they copyrighted every song on the album at once in 1983

It was written pre-1982. (Read a thing where it was mentioned.) I expect it was from earlier than that.

I'm looking for the year Holding Up The Ladder (or They're Holding Up The Ladder) was written. I can only find information online about the Easter Brothers' version, and I know this must be a traditional gospel song that dates back much farther. Help please?
