Subject: RE: NY Celtic Band seeks singer From: InOBU Date: 05 Jan 00 - 05:03 PM Oh NO Aine, I didnt mean the Female Genes (or the owld XY Cromisones!) I mean the SINGING Genes! No, BY NO Means! I come from a singing family, and Gordon, our flute player sings a bit, but the sound we strive for is a bit like the Rankin Family (which is a little like Salineri saying he aspires to write like Motzart - though we are not too shabby!) And Mbo, put your pipes under your arm, and hop a bus, lad, it is all happening in New York! All the best to all, Larry |

If not, why don't you just go with a male singer and alleviate the problems you seem to be having with women vocalists? I'm sorry you've been having so much trouble finding a 'committed' performer; however, I've been in several groups myself, and I have to say, the majority of the 'committed' members were the women. Good luck with your talent search though, a stor, Áine |

Subject: RE: NY Celtic Band seeks singer From: Mbo Date: 05 Jan 00 - 02:09 PM Man Larry, if I weren't down here in NC I'd love to be in your band. I have this fantasy about being in a Celtic band...and I play guitar, and want to learn to sing in Irish! Can't you move down here? :{> --Mbo |

Subject: NY Celtic Band seeks singer From: InOBU Date: 05 Jan 00 - 12:08 PM Once again Sorcha Dorcha is looking for a singer. To begin with, the singer will be a second singer, but may soon become the lead. Being a non-heretical, nice group of folks, we are not doing this behind the back of present singers who are having trouble. The fact is we need coverage, and if a member is holding us all back, we need options. We are a Celtic band built around Uilleann pipes - flute mandolin, who do songs about social ills, both old and new. From Tom of Bedlam to songs about forced assimilation of Natives in Canada. Is there some DNA link between the ability to sing well, and the inability to show for rehearsals? Hmmmm. Sorcha Dorcha has gone through a number of female vocalists, who for reasons of not wanting to do music about human rights, or show up for rehearsals, have not been putting in the efforts of other members. We are actively looking for a singer\guitarist who is interested in learning some songs in Irish and English, and will commit to the band's schedule. Interested? e-mail us at InOBU@aol.com |
