Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Oh, My Michael From: cnd Date: 24 May 20 - 11:51 PM Transcribed by ear from the Red Molly, on their album Light in the Sky: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZePRz6c_YXM OH, MY MICHAEL (written by Abbie Gardner and Jonathan Byrd) When I was younger I prayed to the sea To bring my fisherman father to me If I were an angel I'd fly out to him And like a fisherman, bring him back in When I was older, I sang to the wind To find me another and send his boat in If I were a siren I'd call him ashore And on the rocks I'd be lonely no more CHORUS: Oh, my Michael, oh, my love Won't you sing me a song of the sea A true lover's knot on your finger so fair Sing a song of your love for me Now that we're married and dream of the days We'll run in the fields and we'll swim in the waves If I were a seer I'd know it for sure If you would always come right back to the shore CHORUS This is a prayer and a song and a dream Woven in gold like a young sailor's ring If I were a jeweler I'd weave it so fine That there'd be no space between your heart and mine CHORUS Sing a song of your love for me |

Subject: Lyr Req: Oh, My Michael From: Joe Offer Date: 24 May 20 - 06:34 PM Looking for lyrics to this lovely song: Oh My Michael” “Oh My Michael” is one of the album’s original songs, written by Abbie Gardner and Jonathan Byrd. It’s a slow, gorgeous tune. Abbie sings, “If I were a siren I’d call him ashore/And on the rocks I’d be lonely no more.” Ah, but the voices of these women would seem to have that very power. Plus, personally I’m happy to have such a beautiful song with my name in the title. I hope this one can establish itself in my brain to the point of finally evicting “Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore.” http://michaelsmusiclog.blogspot.com/2014/07/red-molly-light-in-sky-2011-cd-review.html (sung by Robyne - I'll ask her) |
