Subject: RE: Anyone else envy folksingers? From: JHW Date: 31 May 20 - 05:49 AM The car driving comparison is useful. I had singing lessons for years following pain in neck (my neck). There was no one trick to learn, rather a multitude of things to get right simultaneously - while hardly thinking about it. |

Subject: RE: Anyone else envy folksingers? From: Tattie Bogle Date: 30 May 20 - 01:59 PM I envy anyone who can play the autoharp! I have one in the house, but have never got to grips with it: my son picked it up and was instantly playing something vaguely musical! As for playing and singing at the same time, it does take several parts of the brain all working at once along different pathways to do that. I couldn't do it when I first started guitar, but now I can: couldn't do it when I first started buttonbox, but now I can at least for some songs. I'd liken it to driving a car: e.g.when you are learning it's very hard to carry on a conversation with anyone, but eventually it becomes semi-automatic: you don't any more think about changing gear, although hopefully still keeping your eye on the road and aware of any traffic hazards.. |

Subject: Anyone else envy folksingers? From: Donuel Date: 29 May 20 - 10:37 AM I fell into a tiny crack below the line. All I have is the conscience of the folk singer I can not play and sing at the same time. I only have the talent to make a string sing or combine songs in a strange and clever way The envy I feel for performers is what remains I wonder if it was a 107 fever or skull fracture. I'd love to be able to sing out, I wish I could I tried for 50 years but never found that feature. In this sea of outrage I say whats misunderstood as fake prestigue or ethics of an age gone by What defines this age is mostly the great lie. All I have is science with the conscience of folksingers It may be of some value or a total waste of time Its a weird combination that probably won't injure At any rate in my thinking at least its not a crime. I've done all the talking about ability and disability We all have unique mixtures. What about you until lately? Oh... the autoharp is one exception for folks like me! |
