Subject: Folklore: One-man circus From: Newport Boy Date: 25 Jan 21 - 10:25 AM I have been digitising most of my old slides and came across this one. The photo was taken in 1973 near Aynho, on the border of Oxfordshire & Northamptonshire. We were walking from the canal to the village and stopped for a chat. He was an interesting guy but unfortunately he wasn't performing that day. We were moving on and couldn't stay until the following day. He claimed to be the only one-man travelling circus in Britain and I have no reason to dispute this. Does anyone know of another - either by personal knowledge or reliable anecdote? Phil |
